REVIEWS English "Tracks From Beyond" is the debut single from Italy’s the Rippers. It’s also the first record from Shake Your Ass Record. The Rippers are a garage band and this single was even recorded in their garage. From the photos on the sleeve, they even got the look down pat. These guys must of locked themselves in some old wine cellar, with too many bottles of vino and a the whole "Back From The Grave" series. Side A kicks off with "Leave Me Alone." It’s a jangley piece of garage punk, circa 1965. I like the snotty vocals, reminds me a little of Mick Jagger. "Don’t Talk To Me Baby" is an ass-shaker. I love when everything drops out except a little tom-tom action and then the firey guitar solo kicks in. Side B starts with "Killing Storm." It starts with some killer harp. Rocks along and has a cool guitar solo that gives way to another harp solo. The record ends with "Don’t Cry To Me." Now this is a cover of Jerry and the Others. I’m sure they picked this up from the before mentioned "Back From The Grave" series. This is a killer track with great sing-along chorus. The Rippers play some great garage punk that’ll have all the kids dancing. Remember you heard about them at cyclops first. (Mark Cylops - Cyclops zine – September 2002)

* * * * * * * This is the first release on Shake Your Ass Records. I think they are off to a good start. The Rippers are obsessed with London's infamous lady-killer and solid, snotty '60s punk rock with a peppy beat. The four lads know that shades are an everyday sort of thang. The Pretty Things have invaded their brains and will only leave via a battery of guitars, drums and garbled vocals. All joshin' aside, this four-piece band of high octane ravers shake their collective ass on "Leave Me Alone," "Don't Talk Me Baby" (sic), "Killing Storm" and "Don't Cry to Me." THEM-ish vocals and sped-up freakbeat shit that used to really get 'em moving during the 'garage-punk heyday' of 1995. But this is 2003, and the style is still cool, but not as dangerous. Good gravy. * * * * * * * The foundation is straight forward 60s garage rock, but the Rippers know how to twist the formula. First of all, give the guitars a surfy ring. Secondly, and I didn't think this one was possible, yet alone advisable, tinker with the Bo Diddley beat. Their drummer, known only as Ripper 1 (kudos for giving the drummer #1 status!), adds an extra eighth note or three onto the Godzilla of drumbeats.and makes it work! casi siempre que se trata de los Rippers. Tras esta canción, viene "Don't
talk me baby", con las mismas características que la anterior. En la cara B,
"Killing storm", la más destripadora y por último, una versión de JERRY &

Italian: Il giorno in cui mi è arrivato il 45 giri dei Rippers ho passato circa un paio d’ore ad ascoltarlo ininterrottamente, dopo di che ho deciso che avrei dovuto contattare questi loschi individui per un’intervista da pubblicare su Geghegè… In realtà i Rippers non sono di molte parole, preferiscono restare nell’ombra, tuttavia sono riuscito a strappare qualche risposta al loro cantante-chitarrista. Tornando al disco, l’unica pecca è che ne esistono solo trecento copie! R’n’B suonato nel modo più crudo e selvaggio possibile; chitarre e voce taglienti, ritmica potente (impossibile restare fermi!); difficile scegliere un brano tra i quattro che compongono l’EP (qualche punto in più lo guadagna “Killing Storm” grazie ad un’armonica scatenata!): complimenti a Giuseppe che ha fatto uscire questo prezioso singoletto, cos’altro posso dire? * * * * * * * (...) una segnalazione d'obbligo va ai Rippers, ovvero il miglior gruppo garage punk italiano degli ultimi anni. Lo dico senza tema di smentite: i quattro sardi (solo questo si sa di loro, che sono sardi. Il resto è avvolto in un alone di mistero, un pò come i primi Unclaimed) sono una band SENSAZIONALE. Suonano come una versione più selvaggia e meno filologica dei primi Tell-Tale Hearts, e chi li ha visti dal vivo dice che fanno sfracelli. Non ne dubito. Questo loro Track from Beyond, su Shake Your Ass Records, è un 7" di quattro brani da collocare al fianco di certe opere prime "storiche", quattro brani di brutale rhythm'n'blues che evocano i fantasmi di Stones, Pretty Things, Gravedigger Five e Morlocks, ovvero sixties punk a livelli astrali. * * * * * * * Ci inchiniamo di fronte a questo favoloso killer nuovo combo sardo! Debuttano loro e, con questo ltd. to 300 copies 45 numerato a mano da Capinch in persona, esce allo scoperto la calda label milanese, dal nome azzeccatissimo! I Rippers sono in quattro e propongono un devastante garage punk and roll, che mi ricorda moltissimo certe cosette dei primi crudi Makers, i Gravedigger V e gli Shadows Of Knight, passando attraverso tutti i volumi della mitica serie Back From The Grave. E non è solo la cover di Jerry And The Others, Don’t Cry To Me, a rendere omaggio a queste mie sensazioni! Il loro è un suono selvaggio e primitivo, il garage dove hanno registrato il nastro con queste schegge ha dato ulteriore risalto a tutti e quanti gli strumenti, evidenziando una voce snotty e del r’n’r scandito da alcuni lampi di chitarra che mi hanno lasciato… di stucco! Grandi, chissà che storia sarà un loro live! Non posso starmene qui fermo! Leave Me Alone, Don’t Talk Me Baby e Killing Storm i tre originali. Comprate questo singolo finché siete in tempo, potreste arrivare a maledirvi… Vedrete che presto li conosceremo meglio, qualche altro dischetto ce lo devono!, e sentiremo parlare molto di loro, a partire dalle pagine di questa fottuta zine!! * * * * * * * (…) sul versante 7” vale la pena applaudire Mr.Capinch che, dopo il lavoro egregio fatto con l’omonima fanzine, ha deciso di creare la sua etichetta, la Shake Your Ass Records. L’onore di aprire le danze è stato offerto agli enigmatici squartatori The Rippers che si abbandonano ad un crudo R’n’R debitore della cattiveria garage-punk dei Gravedigger V.
