We seem
to forget that France and Italy have a very rich rock'n'roll scene with
single fetishists. Small vinyl-labels and thousands of groups. A bloody
shame. For instance the psychobilly-band Hormonas from Italy. Their single "Teenage
Pussy", you'll play it so much till you can see right trough the vinyl. The
excitement you once felt with the Cramps, an incredible dirty sound and a
great singer. No clichè-psychobilly. No. A strange but unforgettable
hit-single with a bullit!

“Cramps
meet Jack O’Fire meet Pussy Galore…” is what they’re aiming for, and that’s
indeed about what they’ve come up with. That spells success, so take a bow,
boys!

“Teenage Pussy” is the debut single from The Hormonas: an energetic, young
group from Italy. These guys play a raw garage-psycho-trashabilly hybrid
sound that most bands could only dream of aspiring. The title track “Teenage
Pussy” is a nasty little rockabilly rave up – a nice addition to any strip
club DJ's collection. “Psygorilla” is filled with wild harmonica, spastic/stuttering
vocals and a whole lot of hooting and hollering. “She doesn’t Like You” is
the most maniacal of the tracks. Apart from the line “She Doesn’t Like
You,” I can’t make out the rest of the words. Either the song is mostly
in Italian, or the singer is having a seizure and has his own fingers in his
mouth. Mark my words, when the Cramps finally call it a day the Hormonas
will be there to take their place.

This Italio (?) unit sounds a bit like an early Estrus band on the 2-song
B-Side. "Psygorilla" adds some raunchy harp 'n "She Doesn't Like You"
upchucks a lotta' freak-o-feedback chunk-breaks...not bad. I thought (wouldn't
you?) that a song entitled "Teenage Pussy" would be a lil' wilder, but it's
a groove-abilly number...s'OK.

First,
let’s establish this fact: I hate modern rockabilly. But, this one kind of
does it for me a little, and the chick on the cover with the smokin’ ass
isn’t swaying my opinion at all. Really. “Teenage Pussy” is genuinely a cool
song, and “Psygorilla” is a decent Crampsian stab with some of that
harmonica I’m a sucker for. By the third track, I start to realize that
someone is playing a stand-up bass on this record, and that’s my cue to
exit. I imagine the Rev. in lead singer Rev. Sam’s name stands for reverb.
One-and-a-half good songs and one song I don’t want to admit I listened to.
Take your chances on this one if you wish, it ain’t half bad for some
‘billy. Limited to 300 copies.

Italian
band from the looks of it. Kinda psychobilly sounding but it’s got some r’n’r
too. Not my fave style of music. This works out okay after all cause it’s
kinda punky.

The
Hormonas thave just put out their first self-titled 7 in on Shake Your Ass
Records. The Hormonas’ are outta Italy and play a crazy, noisy brand of
rockabilly. Rockabilly, pshchobilly, it’s all rock n’ roll to me. Side A’s
“Teenage Pussy” is a cool rockabilly number and has some cool standup bass
work. Gotta love that chuga-chuga rhythm. The Hormonas throw in a twist with
some psycho guitar work. Side be contains “She Doesn’t Like You” and “Psygorilla.”
“She Doesn’t Like You” has a rockabilly rhythm but is way crazier than your
daddy’s rockabilly. The scream-your-throat-out vocals and nasty guitar are
pure punk. “Psygorilla” is a blues-punk number that’s have the kids dancing
from Memphis to Rome. I love the harp work on this one. This is a great
record and you should check ‘em out.

Hormonas, mitica garage punk blues band veneta!
peggio c'è in giro. Divertente, provateci pure voi!! Cramps meet Pussy
Galore.
