Their
debut full lenght was one my favourite records of last year, so yes: I am
biased. I’d probably even say that their farts were brilliantly composed.
Normally I’m not all that much into Sonics-devotee-bands – if I want
echoos from the past I’d rather jerk off to my own high school pictures.
But The Rippers are not only brilliant at playing this stuff, they have
created a complete own sound that’s “real garage” and very personal at the
same time. So it’s not just a matter of ‘janking the trebble in the red,
overdosing on the reverb, and playing the bass like ploink, ploink,
ploink’ – oh no. It’s a combination of madhouse songs, total grip on
producing in a perfect shithole, and haunting vocals that really do seem
to creep up on you. It is all kinda tense, kinda psychotic, but in an
almost gentil way, so everybody can relate. O yeah, I love this band. The
Rippers make the party cells in my brain go ‘jippy kayo kayeee
motherfuckers!’

The
Rippers deal in primitive, whining, snotty garage modelled on The
Gravedigger V/Morlocks doing 60’s R&B. And they finally have it down to a
tee. It’s none too easy on the ear or the slightest bit melodic, but it has
phlegm! And I can dig it…
One for the
perpetual caveteen!

On flaming red wax!! Yeah, this label puts out really great shit. The
Rippers are a sixties garage band, reminding me of the Makers. Fast
sixties garage, great tunes, great breaks, great screaming, everything's
great. For me "Blackeyed Woman" is the killertrack on this on. It's all
recorded in their garage and it sounds fantastic. Mono offcourse. These
guys are really having fun, I would like to see them on stage.

This rips!!! Really. They do
what they do well. Not the least bit innovative, but you should know that by
looking at the cover. Always judge a record by its cover. I like how the
second song on each side just ends...it doesn't even sound like it's close
to being over....okay, maybe close. Kinda like early Makers or a Billy
Childish band/British invasion. Great drummer. Got me dancin'. Like my
grammar?

Hilfe! Was für ein
schauderhafter Schreck, den ich gerade bekam! Ich legte nichts ahnend die
neue
THE RIPPERS-7“
namens „...

Si parte con " If I Should Catch You", garage
"What I Need"
"Never Tried Before" e' un garage punk
dal gusto molto texano che mi ricorda Kit And The Outlaws per il riff
ossessivo.

italianos.
Comienzan con "If I should catch you". Una animalada de canción , con un
ritmo imparable. Armónica, aporreos y guitarrazos a destajo! Tras ésta; "What
I need".
