Alex Cuervo (Blacktop, A Feast
of Snakes, The Now Time Delegation) never seems to disappoint his fans and
the first 7” by his new outfit is another winner. The songs are great, the
singing is very good, the music is awesome : a perfect debut! This Damn Town
sounds like the missing link between Ben Vaughn and The Beasts of Bourbon
and I really hope a full-length is in the making. Classy messieurs et
madame!

Debut 7" from Alex Cuervo's
new group also feat. Jeremy Diaz, Kari Luna and Dillon Strange. AC's CV
makes R'n'R headhunters cream their pants. Cuervo has played with Blacktop,
Now Time Delegation, Gospel Swingers and Feast of Snakes and This Damn Town
proudly carries on in the same crude tradition. The group sounds like some
punk stole the hillbilly from a late 50s Sun session and borrowed the
drummer a real drum kit, added an organ and told everybody to CRANK it up
and forget about radio play. Nothing new under the moon, but taking the best
parts of some of the best music and rocking the fuck out is not such a bad
thing, when pulled off by talents like these. Definitely an act worth
getting aquainted with, so start collecting today.

This Damn Town brings the mind
the type of bands that were running American regional music circuits in the
'20s through the '50s; bands that earned in their living in roadhouses,
shacks in the middle of forest, bunkers, and jamborees for little more than
pay to the next town, dangerous encouters with any combination of women, men,
shady business deals, drugs, and the love of music. But what came out of it
no longer seems to exist on the national stage: steel nerved, roots-ready
bands that, no matter what they're playing, is muscled through with meaty
chops and excellent musicianship. It's not flashy because those so secure in
their playing can always kill the listener at any speed. Up front, is a
languid - but not relaxed - Lux Interior vocalist that sweetens the deal.

Band THIS DAMN TOWN um Alex Cuervo (Ex BLACKTOP), Jeremy Diaz (RIVERBOAT
